YOU MIGHT AS WELL…
A young entrepreneur recently told me about his idea — his eyes were beaming, his voice full of passion, his whole body tense with anticipation. Then he told me about a slightly different path for his idea. One which wasn’t quite aligned with what he wanted to do. But one which, he thinks, might be more viable. More profitable. The one which other people (not his customers, mind you) tell him to take.
His voice sounded like he was telling me how to program my VCR from 1995.
The chances of success for any entrepreneur are slim. 10% at best. More realistically 5%. (Good) Entrepreneurs know this by heart. And still love what they are doing — as it’s an incredible ride, they learn and grow every single day, it’s their chance to leave a mark, make a dent in the universe. And they know that they can (and often will) do it all over again. And again.
With that in mind: Why would you want to work on something which isn’t your vision? The thing you actually want to build?
