By now we should all be comfortable with failing — first of all (some) failure is inevitable; and as long as we learn from our failures we are actually moving forward.
If you want to maximize your learning you should follow the US Navy SEAL doctrine:
The magnitude of the challenge multiplied with the intensity of the attack equals your rate of growth.
Do things which are hard. Stuff which pushes you outside of your comfort zone. Attack the problem with full force. Put your whole heart into the effort.
This leads you to two possible outcomes: Phenomenal success. And, even should you fail, strong learning and personal growth.
There is no point in doing small things and doing them timidly.
