Shades of Gray

The following guest post is from a fellow Heretic, Elio Qoshi, Graphic Designer and aspiring entrepreneur, with a weak spot for anything open source.

The human eye is able to see and distinct 10,000,000 different colors. That’s about 1000 levels of light-dark, 100 levels of red-green and 100 levels of yellow-blue for a single viewing condition.

And yet you think things can be either right or wrong?

Your everyday life is not written in binary code, and neither your thoughts and opinions. Once you launch a startup, chances are that you will get caught in its momentum and stop setting new goals, whilst instead aiming for your initial goals. You stop thinking, as your reflexes take over.

List your reasons and say them to yourself. No bullshit. Hard raw reasons and motives. If you have a hard time describing in a few sentences, what your startup is about, you have a problem. Stop and think about it. Ask yourself what kind of problem solver you are. Has the problem or solution of your startup changed since its beginning? If yes, take the needed measures and adapt. Hold on for a moment and analyze what you are doing, and more importantly, WHY you are doing it.

Meanwhile your beliefs will be shaken, your opinions split, your spirit transformed.

And that’s okay. You must be doing something right.

Doubt everything around you, doubt your experiences, doubt the facts, doubt the undoubtful, doubt this Newsletter. Be multipolar, have empathy, and most importantly; listen. You will be much better off then. Why? Because you listened to something you might never have noticed before.
